New NXP i.MX8 processors on Qseven and SMARC modules

Friday, December 1, 2017

congatec AG announced the implementation of NXP i.MX8 processors on the Qseven and SMARC form factors as a member of the NXP EAP (Early Access Program). The modules based on ARM Cortex A53 / A72 cores will be introduced to the market simultaneously with the launch of NXP related processors. This will allow customers to have immediate access to i.MX8 technology thanks to the use of congatec's "application ready" modules.

SMARC and Qseven modular form factors are geared towards a variety of industrial applications. The i.MX8 processors offer up to 4 processing cores with high-performance graphics units that allow to use up to 4 independent displays with extreme low power consumption. The support for operating temperature ranges of up to -40 ° + 85 ° C allows its use in mission critical applications such as the development of railway and automotive systems.

By registering with the EAP, developers can therefore have privileged access to the new congatec modules, minimizing NRE time and costs in developing applications based on i.MX8 processors.

The first modules based on i.MX8 will be presented at Embedded World 2018 in Nuremberg and the first batches of products will be available in limited numbers.
