Windows 7 Pro & 7 Embedded

11 years of industrial applications based on Windows 7 & Windows Embedded Standard 7

The support for Windows 7 Pro and Windows Embedded Standard 7 operating systems is officially ended by Microsoft on January 14 and October 13, 2020 respectively. Windows 7 has been in production for 11 years, therefore many industrial users find themselves in the need to find systems that still support Windows 7, especially to mantain systems and machines installed in the field. Although Windows 7 operating system no longer receives updates, it is in fact possible to carry out new installations and license activations, bearing in mind the vulnerability from a security point of view.

Hardware support for Windows 7

Major vendors such as Intel didn't develop drivers for Windows 7 on all the latest chipsets. The sixth generation of Intel Core processors (Skylake) for the medium-high range and Intel Bay Trail and Braswell processors for the small processor / low power sector, are the only hardware platforms still available for Windows 7 (both in Professional and Embedded versions).
